If you could change one thing about yourself, what would that be? Well, some people would change their physical looks while some may change the things they deal with internally. Often times people struggle with what their true identity is, do you know what yours is? Do you know who you are or are you still trying to find her?

Since childhood you have been imprinted on. To be imprinted on means to cause something to stay in your mind or memory. People have come into your life and imprinted some things that should not be there. You have labels that have molded you into the woman you are today. Some of the imprinted identities you are walking around with simply are not true. While the world has imprinted on you the things that will tear you down, the Lord has something He wants to impart on you. When the Lord begins an impartation, He is making something known to you and He is giving you a gift. The Lord is making a deposit into your spirit and into your life. img_9482

Let’s talk about the types of labels that the world gives us. I was given labels in my childhood that lingered for what seemed like eternity and has taken a while for me to be released from those labels.  The enemy tried to use those labels to make me feel bad about my self. My confidence lacked and I found myself making poor decisions due to theses labels. I found myself living up to the standard of those labels. The enemy did not want me to succeed in life.

A lot of times we are given labels by the people that we love and have trusted. We have what is called a thought closet. It is when things are said and done to us and we continue to keep it in our thoughts. These things are hanging around just like the clothes in our closets. We weigh life decisions on these thoughts. These words fill your thought closet for many years. The hurtful words that people have used towards you, you have carried them around for years and then they begin to mold you. These words you are labeled by, which then follow you into adulthood. They interfere with relationships and even show up at school and on your job.

These labels will make you bitter and fill you with resentment, which will linger in the heart for many years. Due to such labels, they began to make you think things about yourself that are untrue and bring a lot of hurt and pain. Well, today is your time to surrender those labels. So, where I use to think I was stupid amongst many other labels, I have surrendered my old labels and now I am wearing  “I Am More Than A Conqueror.”

So, for those labels that was given to you that you did not choose and those labels from your past, it is time for you to see what God says you are. Wha would your life look like if you were to allow God to help remove those labels?

Romans 5:3-4 says; not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance and endurance produces character and character hope…….

Ephesians 1:11-12 says; It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, He had His eye on us, He had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose He is working out in everything and everyone. (MSG)

Know that God is processing you to have a new identity. You do not have to be what others have called you. You do not have to answer to who they say you are. While the world has tried to imprint something on you, The Lord is imparting life, deliverance and restoration in you. The label that God gives you is a label that can never be removed. You must trust God and have faith that you are not what others say you are. Today we will give all of our thoughts to Christ because the Lord has given us a new label.

The Exercise

  • Write down all the things that others have labeled you as.
  • Write down all the labels you have labeled yourself as.
  • when you are finish, tear it up.
  • (On a sticky note) Write the label that God has given you.
  • (Go look in a mirror) Confess the label God has given you and repeat it 10 times. Stand in who God calls you.

The Prayer
